This is a perfect day trip in the heart of Gauteng.

I went there on a Saturday with a couple of friends. Upon arrival we headed straight for the waterfall, which is spectacular and visible throughout the garden. The garden is cleverly laid out with paved footpaths throughout. The paths are mostly flat and not strenuous at all. If you’re looking to build up a sweat there is a more challenging walk to the top of the waterfall with great views of the garden.

Whilst, winding our way towards the waterfall, we stopped many times to look at some remarkable plants and to read some of the informative signs. Most interesting to me was the aloe garden and the wide variety of indigenous trees which dot the perfectly maintained lawns. Arriving at the waterfall, we decided to save the hike to the top for another day; instead we spent a few lazy hours relaxing on a shady spot under a tree.

At the end of the day we had waffles and ice cold ginger beers at the restaurant which is nestled underneath an enormous White Stinkwood tree.

I would definitely recommend visiting the garden, entrance is cheap (less than R30/person), the garden is very well maintained and I felt very safe during my visit.
